November 19, 2013 - Analyzing Literature

Directions: See Monday, November 18 directions.  Continue annotating for how imagery, setting, diction, symbolism, and characterization help convey the theme in "The Flowers."  The text can be found yesterday's lesson as well.

Warm-up  (Extra credit - comment on here): If your life story was turned into a book, what would be the theme?

  1. If my life story was turned into a book the major theme would be how sometimes you are forced to be strong when being strong is the only choice you have. Everyone has some issues in life and I definitely have mine. First and foremost I have lived most of my life without my father. For the first couple of years I was always dreading and feeling sorry for myself for not having a father like the rest of my friends had. But then it came to a point where I just had to accept things and move on. This is the moment I realized I had to be stronger even though I wasn't quite ready. As you can see my only choice was to be strong as so I did!

  2. Theme: Sometimes people change because of the one they love and you have to give up many things like communication and feeling towards them.

My brothers wife and me do not really get along I feel as if she took him away from me. My brother became a different person he change the way he use to think and the way he use to treat me. Ever since then I don't like going to his place because she might yell at me and my brother won't doing about It or when she gives me rude looks my brother rather turn his head.
